WARBURTON - Eight female teachers, who were drawing their salaries without attending their respective schools, have been suspended in Nankana Sahib.
Enquiries against the teachers especially those living abroad and drawing their salaries here have been initiated by Mian Tariq Rafiq, the Executive District Officer (Education) of Nankana Sahib under the Punjab Employees Efficiency and Disciplinary Act 2006.
Tariq said that there were a number of teachers absent from their duties for the last few years while some of them were in abroad and drawing their salaries regularly. These teachers are burden on the nation and acting like pest and parasites. He pledged the money illegally drawn by them would be got back and they would be brought to book, he said.
ALCOHOL SEIZED: Police seized two distilleries and 80 liters of alcohol and a stolen motor bike during a raid. The Warburton police took the action on the special directives of Nankana Sahib District Police Officer Dr Haider Ashraf. Mumtaz Ahmad from Mohallah Eidgah and Muhammad Riaz Rajoo were arrested from their alcohol plants along with massive raw material and many hundred liters prepared alcohol packed in containers.
SIX INJURED IN ROAD MISHAP: Sixteen passengers inured in a road accident as a coaster turned turtle due to over speeding near Abbian Wala turn here. The injured include two senior teachers Muhammad Sarwar and Shahadat Ali of Government High School Warburton. One of them suffered severer head injuries was admitted to Lahore General Hospital along with other four passengers. Shahadat Ali received a fracture in shoulder girdle and admitted.
According to the school teachers, the driver was in hurry to reach the van stand thereby losing the control of the vehicle. However, Rescue 1122 reached the spot within minutes and shifted the injured persons to DHQ Hospital.
