ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Under-14 tennis team’s only hope of winning the girls doubles title of ITF Asian 14 Under Tennis championships Division II were dashed out as Yusri/Roslan defeated Maheen Dada/Nethmi Waduge in straight sets 6-1, 6-4 on Saturday.

Pakistan team coach Kamran Khalil, talking to TheNation, said: “Maheen and Nethmi were defeated 6-1 by Yusri/Roslan, but the pair bounced back in the second set and gave tough fight to their opponents and at one stage they were going head-to-head, but they were ran out of steam and lost the second set 6-4 thus lost the final in straight sets.”  “I am focusing on my team’s mistakes and quite sure the lads will certainly overcome their mistakes in the next events, the coach added. “Azhar Abdul Qadir has shown his class by reaching the semi-finals of the doubles event. Nofil is also playing well and learning quickly,” he added.
