KHANEWAL - Hundreds of teachers took out a protest rally under the auspices of teachers’ unions against Education Department officials for allegedly harassing female teachers and in favour of their demands.

The rally started from Government Islamia High School was attended among others by Hakim Javedul Hassan, the chairman of Teachers Union Joint Action Committee Khanewal, Muhammad Iqbal Nadeem Phul, the president of Punjab SES Teachers Association, Muhammad Arif Sahu, the president of PTU Union, Abdul Aziz Mugal, the provincial media advisor of PST Association, Miss Sakina Bashir, district president of PTU, voice chairman Mian Masood Akhtar, Muhammad Shafique, Mukhtar Hussain Ghalib, Jalil Ahmad Khan Dhaha, Malik Rafique Langriyal, Farkhanda Awan, Nasreen Rafique and Rukiya sattar.

The protesters were carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogan against EDO (Education) Aizaz Ahamd Khan Joiya, DEO (Education) Abdul Mateen and member vigilance committee Ramzan Rashid.

Addressing the participants, the unions’ leaders demanded immediate suspension of the officials who were allegedly involved in harassment of six female teachers of Government Middle School 121/15L. They also said that if the Education Department failed to accept their demands the circle of protest will be extended in across the province. They threatened they would stage a protest demonstration on the occasion of the Punjab chief minister’s visit to Khanewal.
