SADIQABAD - The Pensioners’ Association Rahim Yar Khan expressed its concerns over delay in increasing pensions of the workers who retired between 1995 and 2001 despite the apex court orders.

According to a Supreme Court’s notification, the officeholders said, the Punjab government was directed to increase the workers’ pensions by 7 percent but the provincial government was using delaying tactics in this regard.

During the meeting, the problems of old age employees came under discussion as well and it was demanded that their pension should be raised to at least Rs 5,000.

REINSTATEMENT DEMANDED: A delegation of the EPI Vaccinators’ Welfare Federation met with the district coordination officer and demand early reinstatement of the dismissed workers.

The Federation’s officeholders led by its President Muhammad Farooq and General Secretary Javed Ahmad told the DCO that protests would continue until their reinstatement. However, the DCO assured them that he was making an all-out effort for their restoration and had raised the issue at the provincial level to get their issues solved.
