Islamabad - Islamabad police on Wednesday arrested 179 suspects during a search operation conducted in various areas of the city, a police spokesman said.

The station house officers of Sabzi Mandi, Industrial Area, Shahzad Town and Golra police stations along with police teams conducted search in the sectors I-11/4, F-12, E-11, Faizabad, Pandorian, Society Area, and under-construction buildings and plazas. They succeeded to nab 179 suspects who are being investigated further.

Furthermore, Islamabad police have arrested 13 outlaws from various areas of the city, besides recovering 24 wine bottles, cash, weapons, gambling tools and looted items from their possession.

 On a tip-off, Bhara Kahu police raided Dhoke Jilani and arrested three gamblers Khan Hafeez, Nasir Zaib and Mohsin Ziab, besides recovering stake money and gambling tools from their possession.

Golra police nabbed four persons who were later identified as Hassan Munir, Zohaib, Amar Nawaz and Noman for violating anti-smoking law, 2002. Industrial Area police arrested bootlegger Basharat and recovered 24 wine bottles from him. The police team also arrested three fraudsters impersonating officials of excise and taxation office Islamabad. They have been identified as Ishfaq, Bostan and Moazzam Baig. Sabzi Mandi police arrested Rahim Gul and recovered one 30-bore pistol along with ammunition from him. Nilore police arrested Waheed Ahmed involved in decanting gas in cylinders illegally. Sihala police recovered stolen property from the possession of one Ali Raza. Cases have been registered against these nabbed persons and further investigation is under way.
