ISLAMABAD - Federal Minister for Information Pervaiz Rasheed on Wednesday said that the negative politics of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has led him to confront with ‘go Imran go’ slogans during his visit to the Army Public School (APS), Peshawar.

He advised the PTI chief to support the government on national agenda. Talking to the journalists outside the Parliament House, he said that Imran’s politics was based on dishonesty, adding he was guiding the nation astray. He said that Imran should have thought of sharing the grief of the bereaved parents.

The minister accused the PTI chairman for shattering unity of the state. Pervaiz said that Imran was trying to hoodwink people on the issue of alleged rigging in the elections. He said that he had offered Imran to identify the word ‘bogus’ in the audit report of NA-122 and also conduct forensic test of the ballot papers which he claimed had been printed by any private press.

He said that Imran did not respond to any of the two offers, which implied that he was doing the politics of lies. He said the fact that the PTI chief was not serious in the formation of judicial commission. He said that the PTI chief was in fact creating hurdles in the way of implementing the national agenda of eliminating terrorism.

Pervez criticised misbehaviour of the police with protesting parents of the victims of Peshawar Army Public School during Imran’s visit to the school. The minister also demanded the removal of police officials who were involved in the incident. He said that all citizens have the right to stage peaceful protest demonstrations and their government support demands of bereaved families.

In a separate statement, Chairperson of National Assembly Standing Committee for Information and Broadcasting Marvi Memon has said there was no danger to Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq of being unseated over electoral audit report of NA-122.  She said that it was a baseless allegation that 30,000 votes cast for Ayaz Sadiq were bogus as the election tribunal had yet to announce its verdict in this regard.

She said Pakistan Tehik-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan should apologise to the nation and Ayaz Sadiq for levelling rigging allegations against the latter.

Replying to a question, she said Imran Khan should accept his defeat and concentrate on improving his party’s government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Marvi Memon alleged that Imran Khan and his party instead of playing their due role in the war against terrorism were doing politics of sit-ins and agitation in the country.
