S:     Can you believe this guy? Apparently, he cannot ‘comprehend’ why those parents were protesting against him. Such a narcissist! Of course, no one in his or her right mind would take a position against him. They have to be misguided, misinformed or on somebody’s payroll. He refuses to clearly and strongly come out against terrorists, gets married so soon after the attack, and now, he’s surprised that the parents who lost their children don’t love him unconditionally.

A:     I think you are being a little unfair. He supports Operation Zarb-e-Azb, he supported the Prime Minister in the APCs and actually contributed to the formation of the National Action Plan. As for his marriage, I think he had landed in an impossible position. The news had leaked to the media. All sorts of people were ‘analysing’ and making a scandal out of it. As he said, he would have preferred to wait a while longer, but the media circus didn’t leave him with a choice. He could only marry to shut them up.

S:     Please! His half-hearted support is good for nothing. How many times have you heard him congratulate the military or government for the initiative? Why did his party not come to the parliament to vote in favour of the 21st amendment? How come those protesting against the TTP in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa are beaten up and arrested by the police? How come he doesn’t ever rant against terrorists the way he addresses his fellow politicians? I am telling you, Ameen. Imran Khan’s thinking hasn’t really changed one bit. It’s just that he knows what he stands to lose if he speaks his mind in post-Peshawar Pakistan. He shouldn’t have been allowed to visit APS considering his entire political career consists of apologizing for terrorists and vilifying those calling for action against them.

A:     His party didn’t return to the parliament because the rigging issue remains unresolved, thanks to the government. And by your logic Sadiq, no one should have been allowed to visit APS. Has the military not conducted dialogue with Mullah Fazlullah and his likes in the past? Remember that APC where everyone decided that we should hold talks with the TTP? Yes, including PPP, ANP and MQM. So, you will not allow them to visit as well? I am not going to defend Imran’s previous stance on the issue of terrorism. It was wrong, but it has changed.
