ISLAMABAD - Dismissing Afghan Ambassador Janan Mosazai’s claim that majority of militants fleeing operations in Pakistan's Mohmand and Orakzai agencies joined the Afghan chapter of Islamic State (IS), Pakistan said yesterday that no evidence was shared by the envoy in this regard.

Foreign Office Spokesman Qazi Khalilullah said, “Since no evidence has been shared by the Afghan ambassador, his statement is baseless,” he added.

To another question, Qazi said the Afghan government had been asked to investigate terror attack in Jalalabad and share its results with Pakistan.

To another query, the spokesman said the government was in contact with the Chinese government for implementation of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project and several meetings had already been held in this connection.

The spokesman said Pakistan and Iran enjoyed good brotherly and neighbourly relations. He said Saudi Arabia and Iran were expected to solve their issues through peaceful means.

He said Pakistan strongly condemned the terrorist attack in the Indonesian city of Jakarta on Thursday.
