LAHORE - Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Lahore chapter has criticised the government move of dividing health department in two separate administrative units, saying bureaucracy is the only beneficiary while healthcare providers are running from pillar to the post after this breakup.
Executive Committee meeting chaired by President Dr Tanveer Anwar at PMA House yesterday was informed that files and record was missing and bureaucracy was silent spectator on this administrative anarchy.
General Secretary Dr Shahid Malik, Lady Vice President Dr Asma Yasin, Vice President Dr Tariq Rehmani, Lady Joint Secretary Dr Irm Shehzadi, Finance Secretary Dr Wajid Ali, Dr Sarwar Ch., Dr Ashraf Nizami, Dr Azim-ud-Din Zahid, Dr Izhar Ahmad Ch, Dr Zulfiqar Baig and Dr Aleem Nawaz attended the meeting.
Through a resolution, the participants expressed concerns over chaos and anarchy at Shaikh Zayed Hospital and condemned victimisation of faculty members.
In another resolution, unavailability of medicine, missing facilities, rotten infrastructure and acute shortage of human resource at hospitals was criticized.
Delay in promotion of doctors was criticised in a resolution. Punjab Healthcare Commission was lamented and it was expressed that this white elephant was working beyond its given mandate and outcome was mushroom growth of quacks and harassment of registered medical graduates.
