LAHORE - Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq has said that politicians will be strong only when they will abide by the constitution and the law.
In a statement issued from Mansoora on Sunday, the JI chief supported PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri’s demand for the arrest and trial of all those responsible for the Model Town killings and said every aggrieved party had the right to protest against delay in dispensation of justice.
He deplored that police firing on people protesting against the molestation and murder of Zainab in Kasur had caused three deaths. He said it was unfortunate that even children were not secure while the judicial system seemed to be deaf and dumb.
Sirajul Haq demanded publication of the Raja Zafarul Haq committee report on the Khatme Nabuwwat issue and stringent punishment for those who hatched a conspiracy in this regard.
He said the MMA had been revived as an electoral alliance. He said he wanted other corruption free parties to join the alliance so that the alliance could deliver effectively.
He said that generals or the corrupt elite were not a solution to the problems facing the country; the country needed a peaceful Islamic revolution.
Sirajul Haq said the JI had an honest and competent leadership and none of its leaders was accused of corruption. He demanded across-the-board accountability of those named in the Panama Papers, Dubai leaks and London leaks.
Also, JI deputy chief Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha said that provision of education and health facilities was primary responsibility of the federal and provincial governments but they had miserably failed on this front.
He said the rulers talked much of good governance and development but the ground realties were otherwise. He said the number of government hospitals in the country was too inadequate to meet the demand of the increasing population and three to four patients were being treated on one bed.
He said the Mansoora Hospital enjoyed the confidence of the people in the area and with installation of CT scan machine diagnosis of mental diseases would also be possible.
The ceremony was also attended by Chairman of the University of Lahore Awais Rauf, Dr Anwar Bagvi and Dr Tariq Shafi.
