Six days on, no clue about Zainab’s murderer

| Bereaved father refuses to meet IGP | DNA sample of the girl, dozen suspects collected

KASUR-Zainab’s murderer(s) are still beyond the police noose despite the lapse of six days amid tall claims of the Punjab government.
The forensic team had inspected the place where Zainab was found dead. The team took DNA sample of the girl. Besides, the process of taking DNA samples of dozens of suspects from the neighbourhood of Zainab’s house is underway.
People kept visiting the girl’s house for sympathising with the bereaved parents and expressed condolence over her tragic death.
Punjab Inspector General of Police Capt (r) Arif Nawaz visited Kasur and met parents of all the girls who had been murdered after rape during the past many months. Earlier, Zainab’s father refused to meet the Punjab police chief when he was called for a meeting with the latter. “If IG police wants to meet us, he should come to our house,” he pointed out. The police chief also had meetings with politicians and people belonging to different walks of life at Police Lines and sought their opinions for the maintenance of peace in the district.
The government has started installing closed circuit television cameras (CCTV) across Kasur district to enhance security. Situation in Kasur has returned to normalcy. However, police patrolled across the city especially at Kutchehry Chowk, Kashmir Chowk, Steel Bagh Chowk. The policemen were assisted by Rangers personnel.
STUDENTS PROTEST
Meanwhile, students of a private college took out a protest rally from Baldia Chowk on Sunday. The participants after marching different roads reached the house of Zainab. They were carrying placards inscribed with their demands concerning justice for the girl’s parents.
BANNER DISPLAYED
Banners, demanding the Punjab government to nab the culprits as early possible, are placed across the city while the residents are also criticizing inappropriate security arrangements.
The gory Kasur incident shattered the entire nation, triggering widespread public outrage with people from all walks of life demanding an exemplary punishment for the culprit.
Investigators have collected significant data through geo-fencing. The people suspected to be involved in the rape and murder of the seven-year-old girl included those who departed from her residence and passed by it.
