Prime Minister Imran Khan has accepted the resignation of his Special Assistant on Parliamentary Relations Nadeem Afzal Chan. The Cabinet Division has also issued a notification in this regard.

Some ministers in the cabinet including Fawad Chaudhry, Shirin Mazari and Ali Zaidi, had requested the Prime Minister to not accept Nadeem Afzal Chan’s resignation. According to sources, Nadeem Afzal Chan had tendered his resignation to the Prime Minister after differences arose with government on many issues. In addition, Nadeem Afzal Chan was critical of the Prime Minister’s late visit to the victims of the Machh tragedy.

He expressed his helplessness in a statement on a social networking site on January 8, saying, “I’m ashamed over the bodies of these helpless labourers.” The Prime Minister also had reservations over some of his remarks due to which there was tension between the two, sources affirmed.
