KARACHI - A General Councillor associated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and two private schools owners were killed on Tuesday in separate incidents of target killings. As per details, 57-year-old Sirajuddin, son of Nizamuddin, was shot dead when some armed men targeted him at Hoti Market, Ranchore Lane, in the limits of Nabi Bux police station. Sirajuddin received multiple bullets in his body and died shortly after the incident. He was taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi (CHK) where doctors pronounced his death. SHO Wasim Ahmed said the deceased was the General Councillor of the UC-6 (Saddar Town) and was associated with the MQM. After leaving the office, he was standing at the shop busy in purchasing, when three armed men sprayed bullets on him. As a result, he sustained at least seven bullets in his body. A 9mm and TT pistol were being used for assassination, the officer added. Sirajuddin was said to be the resident of Ramswami area. No case was registered till the filing of this report. Tension prevailed in the area soon after the incident. In another incident, two friends, who had their own private schools in Orangi Town, were shot dead in Sector 4-E, Baldia Town No 9 in the limits of Saeedabad police station. The victims had received multiple bullets and died on way to hospital. They were identified as Fawad, son of Abdul Latif, and Allah Wasaiyo, son of Abdullah. SHO Zahid Hussain Soomro said the victims were the residents of Faqir Colony, Orangi Town and came to visit their relatives in the area where the incident took place. They were sitting at a cement depot, owned by one Raja who was also present with them, when suddenly unknown persons came and opened indiscriminate fire on them and easily managed to escape from the scene. The officer further said that no affiliation of the victims from any political and non-political party was found and suspected that the old enmity might be possible behind the incident.
