LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has awarded a cash prize of Rs 1 million to District Police Officer Dera Ghazi Khan Dr Rizwan and Rs0.5 million each to the SHO concerned and Elite Force for foiling a major terrorist plan through timely and effective action. The CM, appreciating the performance of above-mentioned officers, invited them to Chief Ministers Secretariat in acknowledgment of their courage and bravery. He said the efficiency and commitment to the duty displayed by the police team in foiling the terrorist attack is an example for the entire police force. He said police should remain vigilant and alert in the protection of life and property of the citizens and play an effective role for curbing the incidents of terrorism. He also lauded the residents of Basti Shahwani for cooperation in the action against the terrorists and announced to convert Basti Shahwani into a model village. He directed Commissioner Dera Ghazi Khan to submit his recommendations regarding conversion of Basti Shahwani into model village within 10 days after considering all aspects. Inspector General Police Tariq Saleem and other senior officers were also present on the occasion. It may be mentioned that on July 11, DG Khan Police conducted a raid on a tip off at a far-flung locality, Basti Shahwani Tehsil Taunsa and during exchange of fire; one terrorist was killed while another was apprehended. The police also recovered a large quantity of modern and lethal weapons from the terrorists including missile, rock launchers and suicide jackets.
