RAWALPINDI - Inspector General of Punjab Police (IGP) Tariq Saleem Doger on Tuesday made SP CIA Sardar Maqsood Ahmed as Officer on Special Duty (SDO) while issues orders of suspension of five police officers on the charges of raiding at District Court premises to block the participation of legal fraternity in long march on March 15, 2009. Following the orders of IGP, City Police Officer (CPO) Rao Muhammad Iqbal Khan suspended five police officers while DSP Raja Taifoor was already suspended. Those police officers were suspended including Inspector/former SHO Police Station (PS) Civil Lines Karim Nawaz Niazi, SHO PS Westridge Sardar Baber Mumtaz, SHO PS Chakwal Syez Azhar Hussain Shah and Police Post Katchehri Incharge Sub Inspector (SI) Muhammad Kauser. It is pertinent to mention here that earlier a Magistrate Dr Anwer Gondal had issued non-bailable warrants on July 10, 2009 of a former CPO Inayyatullah Farooqi, SP Sardar Maqsood, DSP Raja Taifoor and others four SHOs for not appearing in the court in a case registered against them on the application of District Bar Association (DBA) Taufeeq Asif for raiding the district bar premises on March 15, 2009.
