LAHORE - Provincial Minister for Finance, Planning & Development Tanvir Ashraf Kaira has said the federation has paid the instalment of Rs 5.1 billion as the royalty of Net Hydel Profit (NHP) to Punjab while the outstanding amount would be paid in next two years. According to a hand out received on Wednesday, he was talking to a delegation of MPAs at his office here. The minister said the Punjab government adopted a firm stance regarding the outstanding dues pertaining to NHP and made sincere efforts in this regard. He said NHP is the constitutional right the people of Punjab, adding the federation would pay Rs 28 billion to Punjab under the head of NHP. The minister said since 1996 Punjab remained deprived of its legal right of NHP, however, the present govt succeeded in getting approval of its demand from the federation.
