LAHORE - Chairman NetSol Technologies Ltd Salim Ghauri has stressed government for opening up of more Information Technology (IT) universities to ensure hi-tech human resource for IT industry in Pakistan. He said there was a time when medicine and engineering were considered the only viable options for students pursuing higher education. However, degrees in business, information technology, media and arts are now considered in vogue as students pursue jobs that pay well rather that those that cater to philanthropic ideals. According to him, very attractive and higher salary packages in these disciplines, particularly the IT industry due to widening dollar-rupee parity, are alluring great number of youngsters and there is a need to establish IT universities in the country. Salim Ghauri also appreciated the role of Higher Education Commission (HEC) in catering the diverse choices in education pursued by students within the last decade.
