LAHORE - King Edward Medical University and Purdue University have signed agreement for carrying on research for managing command diseases in the Global Health context. Fatima Jinnah Medical College and University of Engineering and Technology Lahore will also participate in this research. Prof Maaz Ahmad Dean of Public Health and Preventive Medicine King Edward Medical University, Lahore told that million people suffer from infectious diseases. In less developed countries, like Pakistan, monitoring and response to any infectious disease (ID) outbreak is nonexistent due to insufficient resources, ineffective screening, less trained staff, lack of advanced education and standards and inadequate health policy implementation. Through this project Purdue University proposes to lead a consortium-driven effort for the development of an information and communication technology. He added that this research would be beneficial to control infectious diseases and provide best possible treatment to the poor patients.
