RAWALPINDI - The Government should reduce the ratio of turnover tax at earliest as the National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance has already suggested 0.1 percent decrease in the said tax. RCCI President, Kashif Shabbir, said this while addressing the 10th meeting of the Chamber held at the Khalid Waheed Hall here on Wednesday. He demanded the FBR to consider the Committees proposal. It would be a great relief for the business community of the country, he added. He further said that the RCCI always welcomed the Government decision to enhance the revenue generation. He said that the GST system to be implemented from the October 1 this year and the business community would favour its imposition but the Government was still reluctant to inform the community about its affects on the daily use items. Kashif Shabbir said that businessmen played a vital role in the national exchequer and the Government must took the community on board in the policy making process. He said that it was need of the hour to give confidence to the businessmen to keep the business on. RCCI President said that it was first time in the history of Pakistan that the export volume touched the figure of 19.3 billion dollars during the fiscal year 2009-10. If the Government support and facilitate the business community, 30 billion dollars of export volume could be attained, he said.
