KARACHI (PPI) Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on the appeal of Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh Sharmila Farooqi has approved the release of 454 Indian fishermen imprisoned in different jails of Sindh. According to a release, Sharmila Farooqi at a Sindh Cabinet meeting held two days back in Karachi apprised Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani that 454 Indian fishermen were languishing in Pakistani jails despite completing their punishment tenure. She also mentioned a written report seeking the release of Indian fishermen sent to the federal government. She had prepared a report about her special visit to Naushehro Feroz jail where she was apprised that 454 Indian fishermen were imprisoned in different jails of Sindh including 101 in Naushehro Feroze jail. It was recommended in the report to the federal government to release those fishermen who have completed their punishment tenure so that confidence building measures between the two neighbouring countries could be bolstered.
