Gilani Jr bracing for tough contest in NA-151

MULTAN - A tough contest is likely to take place between PPP candidate Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani and PML-N backed independent Malik Shaukat Hayat Bosan in by poll to NA-151, political analysts believe.The political situation of the constituency shows that both the candidates are gaining strength with every passing day. A bunch of at least 12 former union nazims from different areas of NA-151 announced their support to Shaukat Bosan yesterday while at the same time Millat-e-Jafria declared that the Shias of Sooraj Miani area would vote for Abdul Qadir Gilani.The constituency became vacant because of disqualification of former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and the PPP nominated his son Abdul Qadir Gilani as its candidates. Earlier, a former MPA Malik Ishaq Bucha started his campaign as PML-N candidate but later on he withdrew in favour of Gilani. The polling will take place on July 19.The electioneering has further picked up with the entry of Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani in the scene as he has taken the control of his son’s campaign in his own hand. Sources close to the former premier claimed that a number of strong groups and clans were soon going to announce their support to Gilani Junior.Abdul Qadir Gilani has so far succeeded to win the support of a key figure and former town nazim Makhdoom Abbas Akbar Moni Shah, close aide of Shaukat Bosan and elder of Shikhana family Malik Sikandar Shikhana and a senior local PML-N leader and former union nazim Malik Ashiq Ali Shijra.  On the other hand, Jamaat-e-Islami and Jamiat Ahle Hadith declared their support to Malik Shaukat Hayat Bosan. Similarly, Athangal, Hiraj, Nangana, Wains and Mahay clans also announced to vote for Shaukat Bosan.
