PESHAWAR – Describing the brotherly Islamic country Turkey as the best role model for socio-economic development, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relations, Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said that we need to follow in the footsteps of Turkey.

Soon after his arrival from Turkey where he was at a three-day visit, the Information Minister addressed a press conference at Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad on Saturday and said that the overall development and exemplary law and order situation in Turkey was a matter of inspiration.

He said that in all walks of life in Turkey, there was complete peace, which was due to the fast development going on there. He said that on the invitation of Metropolitan Department of Istanbul, he along with Commissioner Peshawar, Secretary Transport and DG PDA visited Turkey, which he added, was a source of great inspiration. He said that Istanbul was a neat and clean city having the beautiful combination of East and West. He said that the people of Turkey do not waste even the dirty water and recycle it for generating electricity.

He also appreciated the traffic system of Istanbul city, which was being controlled from Central Control Room through the eyes of cameras. He said that women were being chained in one or the other form in Pakistan whereas there were no such restrictions in Turkey, where women also offer Juma prayer in mosques. The womenfolk in Turkey actively play their role in development of their country, he said.

He asked the federal and provincial governments to take lessons from fast development of turkey and own the positive characteristics of their economic and social sectors.
