LAHORE – Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Syed Munawar Hasan, while expressing deep concern over the situation in the country, has demanded of the government to step down and hold general elections by setting up a caretaker government. He expressed these views at Mansoora on Saturday.

He said the country was burning in the fire of terrorism while the rulers were busy in making amendments to the Constitution to curtail the Supreme Court’s powers.

Munawar said terrorism had spread like a disease and its impact was being felt in all the sectors, including economic. The JI chief further said the law-enforcement agencies were busy supplying security to the rulers instead of curbing terrorism and other criminal acts.

Commenting on the attacks on security personnel in Gujrat and Lahore, he said after Karachi and Balochistan, terrorism had gripped Punjab. Munawar said the government had failed on all fronts and immediate elections were the only way out of the crises.
