LAKKI MARWAT – MPA Munawar Khan Marwat has called upon the people from all walks of life to realise their heavy responsibilities and play their role to save children from polio.

This he said while inaugurating a three-day anti-polio drive in a function held on the premises of city hospital on Saturday. DCO Nisar Ahmad, EDO health Dr Abdul Ghaffar Wazir, MS DHQ hospital Dr Muhammad Ishaq, WHO surveillance officer Dr Adnan Akbar Khan and district khateeb Maulana Abdul Wahab also spoke on the occasion.

The lawmaker said that the health department could not eradicate the crippling disease at its own unless people from all segments of society joined hands with them to achieve the target successfully. “Instead of focusing on the health of children we have engaged ourselves in unnecessary activities”, he maintained.

He told that the children needed our attention therefore we should launch integrated efforts to protect them from the menace of polio endemic.

He urged the people to discuss the usefulness of oral polio vaccine with one another during their visit to mosques for offering five time prayers and launch awareness about the importance of polio eradication campaign at public places.

He assured that he and his supporters would extend full cooperation to ensure coverage of refusal cases and remove obstacles in the process of kids’ immunization.

Earlier, Dr Abdul Ghaffar Wazir informed that the district health department had constituted 340 mobile, 42 fixed, 10 transit, 8 border and 5 roaming teams to administer drops to 138,000 children below the age of five years during the upcoming drive commencing from July 16.
