ISLAMABAD - The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Islamabad police have launched a joint operation against lawmakers illegally occupying the flats at Parliament Lodges.
The operation was carried out under the direction of Deputy Speaker National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi and police have recovered 2 out of 16 flats. These flats were illegally occupied by the ministers, located at Parliament Lodges adjacent to the President’s House. The operation was under way to evacuate reaming flats, sources said on Saturday.
Although the government has allotted residence to ministers at Ministers’ Enclave but they are also occupying these flats, sources added.
The building has several visiting rooms. When the building was constructed, these visiting rooms were used by the guests of the parliamentarians but with the passage of time they were occupied by the relatives, friends, servants and security guards of the MNAs and senators.
Earlier, the deputy speaker issued notices to Federal Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira, Chairman Kashmir Committee and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Federal Minister for Capital Administration and Development Nazar Mohammad Gondal, Raza Hayat Hiraj and others in this regard.
