Sabih Azhar honoured





ISLAMABAD - Cricket Promoters Club hosted a reception in honour of Asia Cup U-19 winning coach Sabih Azhar here in a local hotel on Saturday.
Three players from twin cities, Umer Waheed, Shahid Ilyas and Nawaz, former Test player Col (R) Noshad Ali, GM Sports ZTBL Masood Anwar, Test player Sohail Tanveer, Tahir Ansari, President CPC and other prominent personalities and cricket lovers of Rawalpindi and Islamabad were also present on the occasion. Islamabad Region President Shakil Sheikh was the chief guest.
Tahir Ansari said Cricket Promoters Club was founded in 1991 with the basic aim of promoting cricket and help the youngsters of twin cities in best possible way, they have arranged this ceremony to honour Sabih Azhar over U-19 team’s good show in Asia Cup as Pakistan team remained unbeaten in the event.
Shakil Sheikh also paid rich tribute to CPC and also appreciated the efforts of Pakistan U-19 team and head coach Sabih Azhar who had taken giant strides as far as his coaching is concerned as he remained instrumental in guiding not only Rawalpindi Region become champions but also had a successful stint previously when Pakistan U-25 team won the SAARC Cup in 2011 in Maldives.
He said, if Rawalpindi and Islamabad Regions continue to work together the day is not far when they dominate the cricket in country.
Sabih Azhar thanked CPC for honouring him and requested the entire nation to pray for Pakistan's success in the coming U-19 World Cup to be played in Australia next month.
