Arsalan may not get family details of Imran from Nadra

ISLAMABAD - Unlike Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), which gave nomination papers of Imran Khan to Dr Arsalan Iftikhar, the son of former chief justice of Pakistan will not be able to get family details of PTI chief from NADRA, The Nation has learnt.
"I today contacted DG (Operations) NADRA Mir Alam to seek time from him for submission of my application to get family registration certificate (Form B) of Imran Khan and he gave me Tuesday's time," said Dr Arsalan while talking to The Nation. He said that he would properly seek family registration certificate of Imran in his Tuesday' meeting with DG (Operations) NADRA.
A senior officer of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) said that under the relevant laws, the authority was not authorised to provide family registration certificate to any person other than the person concerned or one of his family members. "NADRA laws don't allow us to provide a copy of the family registration certificate of Imran to Dr Arsalan or any other person," the officer added. It is not a public document, he explained.
"NADRA has not yet received the application of Dr Arsalan," the officer also informed and said they had just learnt this through media reports. He said once the authority would receive the application of Dr Arsalan, they would answer the applicant after consulting his legal status and going through details of the contents of the application.
Dr Arsalan wants family registration certificate of PTI Chairman Imran Khan to use it as an important document to file a reference of disqualification against him.
Earlier, Dr Arsalan had sought nomination papers of Imran from the ECP. Arsalan had told the reporters in front of the ECP office that Imran didn't meet the criteria of being a truthful and righteous person as described in the articles 62 and 63 of the constitution. Giving the reason, he said PTI chief has hidden details of his alleged lovechild Tyrian in his nomination papers that he had submitted in the ECP before 2013 general elections to contest an election on an NA seat. The ECP has given nomination papers to Dr Arsalan, as under the election laws any citizen of Pakistan can get nomination papers of any elected representative through an application.
Arsalan on Wednesday last had filed another application before the commission requesting it to provide the attested copies of references earlier submitted by Dr Farooq Sattar of MQM and former minister Dr Sher Afghan Niazi against Imran Khan.
Arsalan had announced on July 7 to file reference against Imran before the speaker National Assembly.
