Zarai Tarqiati Bank was playing pivotal role in the provision of loans to cultivators for maximising food production in the country, declared Syed Tala’at Mahmood Bukhari President of the Bank here on Monday.

While opening the branch of ZTBL in Vanike Tarar here, he said that all-out efforts were being made by the bank for bettering the socio-economic condition of the cultivators and achieving food autarky. He said that the bank had simplified procedures for advancing loan transparently. He directed the staff of the newly-opened branch to facilitate small and big cultivators by mitigating their difficulties in getting loans.

He disclosed that cultivators owning 5 acres of land could get loan to the amount of Rs570,000 for a tractor while those owning 10 acres or above could get loan up to Rs1 million for a tractor. He, however, warned that negligence or bungling for granting loan would not be tolerated.

Replying to a question, he said that there were 383 branches of ZTBL successfully operating across the country, adding that the bank had been helping small growers to increase their food output. He further said that Health Insurance Policy for small growers would be introduced shortly.

Prominent among those who were present on the occasion included Mian Afzal Hussain Tarar, Ex-Federal Parliamentary Secretary, MNA Mian Shahid Hussain Bhatti, MPA Ch Asadullah Arain and large numbers of progressive farmers of the area.

EXPLOSIVE MATERIAL SEIZED: The Saddr Police have raided a premises near District Judicial Complex and seized a quantity of explosive material stacked there in violation of rules.

According to police the accused were preparing fireworks at the premises which might cause fatal incident and despite warning to the owners, they continued to prepare fireworks in violation of law.

The police have registered a case against five accused and succeeded in arresting Zawar Qamar and Shahid while the other managed their good escape.
