LAHORE - Specialized Healthcare Secretary Najam Ahmed Shah reviewed the establishment of rehabilitation centers for disabled persons at divisional level yesterday.

It was decided during a meeting at civil secretariat that three centres will be established in Sargodha, Rawalpindi and Bahawalpur at an estimated cost of Rs100 million during the current fiscal year. International Council for Red Crescent (ICRC), Chal Foundation and Indus Karachi will extend cooperation to the Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department for establishment of these centres.

Additional Secretary Development Zaheer Abbas Malik, Chief Operating Officer Chal Foundation Dr Bakht Sarwar, head of delegation ICRC Reto Stocker and other concerned officers attended the meeting. It was informed that land has been identified for three centres. The health secretary directed completing the process of transfer and possession of land with the help of Commissioners and DCOs. He directed preparation of PC-I for the construction of the said centers.

According to Chal Foundation CEO, 4500 patients would get benefit from these rehabilitation centers.

UHS BOARD MEETS: The 115th meeting of Advanced Studies and Research Board of the University of Health Sciences (UHS) was held yesterday with Vice Chancellor Maj Gen (r) Prof Muhammad Aslam in the chair.

The board evaluated thesis reports and considered synopses for registration of students in various postgraduate courses.
