Obama delivered a sermon at Cairo University offering an olive branch to the Muslim world. Most semi-literate or illiterate people among Muslims have taken his lecture to be some kind of a positive step. Some people are impressed by Mr. Obama's reconciliatory gestures in that speech. I see no hope. President Reagan and Bush Sr. also delivered fine speeches. President Clinton also spoke to the Muslim community 'from the heart'. President Bush Jr. also used to address the Muslims on the occasion of various Islamic festivals. The Muslim world has never had a problem with any US president. We have problems with America as a superpower. We have problems with US polices. We have experienced in the last 60 years that America has never helped any Muslim state in a crisis and has usually supported the other side in virtually every conflict. US attitude towards Palestine, Kashmir, Afghanistan and Pakistan has been hostile throughout the history. Obama cannot change himself from being an enemy of the Muslims into a friend by mere words.
