Where as the country is facing a multitude of problems, from financial crisis to the management of huge influx of refugees from Swat, our rulers are living the lives of Mughal emperors. Being based in the provincial capital, I hear a lot about the wild parties being held in the Governor House almost daily. The same must also be true of the federal capital. The reports of the recent rollicking trip to US by President Zardari and his entourage are still fresh in the public memory. We have all heard the seamy details, true or false, on the tape by Tayyiba Zia from New York. It is high time our rulers felt the pulse of the common man and reformed their wild ways. The rulers are asking the common man for donations for the IDPs but they are themselves busy in lavish spending and misuse of government funds on all-night-long parties. -MUHAMMAD AZHAR KHWAJA, Lahore, via e-mail, June 5.
