KARACHI A delegation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) met President Asif Ali Zardari at Bilawal House here on Monday and discussed matters relating to sectarian killings, development in the province and implementation of decisions of Core Committee and KESC tariff. Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Interior Minister Rehman Malik were present on the occasion. Federal Ministers Dr Farooq Sattar led the delegation which included Babar Khan Ghauri, Provincial Ministers Raza Haroon, Saghir Ahmed Ansari, Adil Siddiqui and Waseem Aftab. Sindh Senior Minister Pir Mazharul Haq, Provincial Ministers Agha Siraj Durrani, Syed Murad Ali Shah, Rafique Engineer, CM Adviser Rashid Rabbani and PPP Karachi President Najmi Alam were also present in the meeting. While briefing the media men, Rehman Malik said that Government has formed a fact-finding committee to investigate the target killing incidents in the metropolis. He informed that the representatives of all factions and sects will be included in the committee. Rehman Malik said that President Asif Ali Zardari stressed that he wants peace in the City at all costs. The President said that everybody wants peace in Karachi which is the economic hub of Pakistan, he added. Government was very close to finding out who was behind creating law and order situation in Karachi, he added. He further said that Government has devised the new strategy to curb the target killings. He said that certain elements were working to create rift between different factions in the City and that is why target killing incidents were taking place. He also warned banned groups to refrain from organising rallies or resorting to open advertising. Their activities will be banned, even if they are operating under the garb of new names, he opined. Malik also said that the police and intelligence agencies were on high alert and interrogating various suspects. All SHOs from various Karachi police stations have been ordered to make a record of all religious organisations and political factions operating in their respective areas. He said that peace will be established in Karachi at all costs and no group or faction will be allowed to create any kind of violence and those who do work against the law will face strict action. On the Occasion, MQM Leader Dr Farooq Sattar vowed that the PPP and MQM coalition would continue saying that there were no differences between the coalition partners. He further said that MQM delegation would soon meet the Federal Finance Minister to resolve the MQMs concern on Federal budget saying that the issue of KESC tariff will be resolved soon. He said that they would foil the conspiracy of sectarian violence in the metropolis ,adding, that President Zardari and Rehman Malik assured their full support to resolve the law and order situation of the metropolis and other issues.
