LAHORE-Expressing dissatisfaction over law and order situation in Punjab, Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer on Monday alleged that crime rate in the province had increased by 30 per cent, which was a reflection of bad governance by Sharif brothers. Mr Law, (a reference to wards Law Minister Rana Sana Ullah) and Mr Order (a reference towards Punjab CM, Shahbaz Sharif) are both busy contesting by-polls along with banned religious organisations, while there is no check on the activities of criminals, the governor said while addressing a ceremony held in NA-121 in connection with Shaheed Benazir Bhuttos birth anniversary. The PPP ticket holder from the said constituency, Aurangzeb Burki had arranged the function, which was also addressed by partys Lahore President Asghar Gujjar, Secretary Information Dr. Fakhruddin Ch and others. Taseer said that Punjab government had appointed an absconder, (Rana Maqbool) as Secretary Prosecution, who had failed to deliver. He criticised Shahbaz Sharif for his sasti roati scheme, saying that it has been launched to get cheap publicity. He said Rs 600 million were being taken out of exchequer every month, but the major chunk was going into the pockets of PML-N workers. Had the same amount been spent on welfare projects, people would have witnessed revolutionary changes, he opined, adding that Punjab had become bankrupt due to wrong fiscal policies. He said people had now got familiar with the so-called good governance of Sharif brothers and would not vote for them even till 2018 elections. He said after passage of 18th amendment, Zardari had quietly passed on all his powers to Gilani. He said this was something PML-N had not even imagined. He said future belonged to the PPP as people were now aware of their bad governance. Paying tributes to Benazir Bhutto, the governor said that it is only the philosophy of great leaders like BB Shaheed that lives in the long run.
