Military men go missing in Mohmand

Some military personnel are reportedly missing as Taliban ambushed a checkpost in Mohmand Agency, the BBC reported on Monday. On the other hand, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed the responsibility for the incident. Talking to the BBC, a military official confirmed the attack and said the extremists targeted a checkpost at Shonkarai in Tehsil Khoazai. However, no casualty was reported in the incident. He further said the attack was carried out from Afghanistans territory and majority of the assailants were the Afghan Taliban, adding that around 15 extremists were gunned down in the retaliatory action. He said contact with some personnel was terminated following the ambush. The BBC, quoting its sources, reported that the TTP commander Yasin Saafi claimed responsibility for the attack and said, We have killed seven military personnel and abducted another ten. He even disclosed the names and ranks of the abducted personnel.
