Mirza, Abbas Rizvi, Kumaili face threats

KARACHI National Crisis Management Cell (NCMC) of the Federal Interior Ministry has informed the Sindh government and the law enforcement agencies about the looming life threats to to Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Ali Mirza, MQM deputy parliamentary leader in the National Assembly Haider Abbas Rizvi, Jaffaria Alliance President Allama Abbas Kumaili and former Director NCMC Tariq Lodhi. In a confidential communiqu of National Crises Management Cell issued on May 21, 2010 No. 3/9/200-(OPI)-1368 threat alert 252 has informed that the Sipah-e-Sahaba contemplating to target government functionaries and others notables to take revenge of their assassinated leaders. The NCMC, in the communiqu, has advised the Sindh Home Secretary, the IG Police and the DG Rangers to take immediate steps to avert any attempt to target the government functionaries and notables that includes Mr Tariq Lodhi, Ex-DG National Crises Management Cell, Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Ali Mirza, MQM MNA Haider Abbas Rizvi and Allama Abbas Kumaili. Sources privy to the matter, confided to The Nation, that former DG of the National Crises Management Cell had already left the country after the recent wave of target-killings. It is pertaining to mention here that the Sindh Home Minister, on Saturday last, claimed that he had received life threats from the outlawed groups. Without mentioning the kind of threats, Dr Mirza said the banned outfits had warned him of death if these groups were not allowed to hold public meetings. I am not scared of their threats and will face them boldly, the minister added. The current spate of sectarian target-killings, in the metropolis, has taken the lives more than 15 people over the one month but the government and the law enforcement agencies have so far been unable to stem the flame of sectarian violence that have resurfaced on the horizon of the metropolis.
