ISLAMABAD - To appease the annoyed Awami National Party (ANP) MPs regarding what they termed the unjust treatment with them by the Sindh Government, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani rang up Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and asked him to form core committee comprising all the political stakeholders in the province to resolve their day-to-day issues. Sources in the ANP informed TheNation that their party delegation had asked Prime Minister Gilani to address their grievances regarding the target killing of their workers in Karachi and blatant accusation by MQM throwing whole responsibility of unrest in the port city on them. The sources further said that Prime Minister Gilani had given them a patient hearing and gave clear-cut instructions to CM Sindh to look into these issues and take steps to rectify the situation as per the satisfaction of all the stakeholders. According to the press release issued by the Prime Minister media department Premier Gilani said that he was managing the governmental affairs in an institutionalised fashion with the sole aim to streamline the decision-making and infuse good governance in the country. He hoped that good traditions would be established in other institutions to be followed in the service of the nation. The Prime Minister observed while talking to an ANP delegation, which called on him at the Prime Ministers House Tuesday afternoon, that whimsical approach of the past regimes had badly affected the governance in Pakistan. The Prime Minister said the present government had made serious efforts to streamline the governance through constitutional and administrative reforms like 18th & 19th Constitutional Amendment and NFC Award. He maintained that some of its positive results were now visible yet it would take some time when the people would enjoy its full benefits. The Prime Minister said that the Government was committed to implement 18th Constitutional Amendment and the devolution plan in totality. He assured the ANP delegation that the Government would make every effort to resolve problems of the coalition partners. During the meeting, the Prime Minister phoned the Chief Minister Sindh and asked him to form a core committee of PPP and ANP MPAs to resolve day-to-day local issues of the coalition partner. He also discussed the issue of life threat to a journalist and asked the Chief Minister to provide him adequate security. The Prime Minister also spoke to the Chairman Senate regarding inclusion of an ANP representative in the Senate Committee on Finance. Reposing their confidence and trust in the leadership of the Prime Minister, the ANP delegation thanked him for his keen interest in resolving the problems and ensuring uplift of backward and far-flung regions of the country. They also discussed law and order situation in Karachi. Construction of Kurram Tangi Dam, Chashma uplift Canal project and Munda Dam were also discussed in the meeting. The meeting was attended by Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel, Senator Muhammad Zahid Khan, MNA Ms. Bushra Gohar, MNA Jamila Gilani and senior officers of the Prime Ministers Secretariat.
