ISLAMABAD - Different bodies of journalists including Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), National Press Club, Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) and All Pakistan Employees Confederation (APNEC) on Tuesday rejected independent judicial commission under the supervision of Chief Justice Federal Shariah Court to probe into the killing of renowned journalist Saleem Shehzad. While addressing a press conference here at NPC, President PFUJ Pervez Shaukat said journalists from all over the country would protest against the murder of Saleem Shehzad and the protest would start on June 15 in front of Parliament House. He said that journalists would boycott the coverage of the National Assembly and the provincial assemblies and also will protest against the murder of Saleem Shehzad in front of provincial assemblies, he added. Lawyers, politicians and civil society will participate in the sit-in protest. He criticised Rehman Malik who had assured that the Prime Minister had ordered to constitute the independent Judicial Commission under the Supreme Court judge into the killing of Saleem Shahzad. He said that journalists were facing critical time currently as 7 journalists had been killed since January 2011. Afzal Butt, President National Press Club, said that the government had failed to form judicial commission for inquiry.
