ISLAMABAD (Online) The Parliamentary Committee (PC) on Judges Appointment has rejected the induction of Justice (r) Fazlur Rehman as judge in the Wafaqi Shariat Court (WSC). The committee met here on Tuesday under its Chairman Senator Nayyar Hussain Bokhari in the Parliament House. The meeting was attended by Aftab Shoban Merani, Asma Arbab Alamgir, Khawaja Asif, Sardar Mehtab Abbasi and others. The committee reviewed the recommendations made by the Judicial Commission (JC) in connection with appointment of three judges in the WSC. Induction of Justice (r) Rizwan Ali Dhodani and Justice (r) Fida Muhammad Khan was approved by the committee while appointment of Justice (r) Fazlur Rehman was rejected. Talking to the media men after the meeting, Senator Nayyar Hussain Bokhari said Justice (r) Fazlur Rehman had taken oath as member of the Election Commission of Pakistan and his notification had also been issued therefore he could not become a judge of the WSC. He told that the JC had been informed that the constitution does not allow his appointment. If new name comes in place of Fazlur Rehman it would be reviewed, he added.
