Ulemas role vital to curb suicides ratio

MIANWALI - Ulema and educational institutions can play a vital role in curbing the rising ratio of suicides in the country. According to a survey conducted by the Punjab Emergency Services Rescue 1122 Mianwali, 75 per cent people were of the view that Ulema should address the issue in Friday (Juma) congregation. According to Community Safety Officer Farooq Khan, Rescue 1122 provided first aid to 32 people who took poisonous pills after being disheartened by domestic problems. Seminars, walks, meetings, lectures and other such events must be organized to raise awareness and sensitise people to check and discourage such incidents. He said that the open sale of such medicines and pills in shops must be banned. Family heads and parents should make the home atmosphere pleasant and calm, he added. The survey suggests that all fellows at home should be given due honour, domestic disputes and petty differences should be minimized, time must be shared for dear and near ones, happiness must be shared by all and proper heed must be paid to all at home.
