LAHORE - Patients of Thyroid cancer are distressed due to the non-availability of Thyroxin in the market, said Dr Khalid Nawaz, Pakistan Society of Nuclear Medicine President.

Talking to the media on Saturday, Nawaz said that deficiency of thyroxin in pregnant women could cause hindrance in the child’s growth which in most of the cases results in premature deliveries and mental retardation while in old people it could cause death. He informed that the Thyroid patients were suffering due to its unavailability as smuggled Thyroxin was shortly available in the market at very high price thus making it out of the reach of majority of the patients. He emphasised that the government and health department should take all the measures to make this essential medicine available in the market.
