Islamabad - The awareness campaign for safety of motorcyclists is in full swing and thousands of bikes have been repaired free of cost during the last three days.
The campaign was formally launched by Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) in collaboration with Atlas Honda and special teams have been constituted to educate bike riders as how to ensure their safety before travelling on roads. Police spokesman said that these teams are performing duties at various main roads of the city and briefing the motorcyclists about safe journey. The motorcyclists driving the bikes without helmets and side mirrors or having defective indicators, headlights, rear lights and speedometers are being educated and appealed to get faulty parts repaired. The SSP (Traffic) Malik Matloob said the purpose of this campaign is to ensure safety of motorcyclists and prevent any road mishap by educating them about safe road environment.
He said that Honda Atlas is assisting the motorcyclists during this campaign to repair the defective lights, indicators or other equipment.
The SSP (Traffic) thanked Safety Manager Atlas Honda Tasleem Shuja for making this campaign successful. He also appealed parents not to allow their children to ride a bike before they get license and assist ITP to ensure safe road environment in the capital.
