KARACHI: Model Ayyan Ali on Wednesday reached Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport to leave forDubai but was restricted by the immigration officials from proceeding with boarding on the plane and was not allowed to leave the country after her boarding pass was cancelled by the authorities.

Ayyan Ali arrived at the airport with her lawyers after her name was removed from the Exit Control List (ECL) upon the orders of the Sindh High Court but was not allowed to proceed with boarding. Immigration officials stated that they cannot allow the model to leave the country until they get permission from Islamabad. After being rejected from leaving for Dubai, Ayyan headed for her home with a heavy heart.

Sources stated that Punjab government’s Home department forwarded a reference to Interior Ministry with a request to reenter the model’s name in the Exit Control List so that she may not be allowed to leave the country.

Sources indicate that the reference was forwarded to the Interior Ministry by the Punjab government as a response of the writ petition filed by the widow of murdered Customs Inspector Ejaz Mehmood in the Lahore High Court.

Ejaz Mehmood’s widow mentioned in the writ she filed in the High Court that Ayyan should not be allowed to leave the country as she is needed in regards to the investigation of her husband’s murder case.

Sources also stated that the ECL committee’s meeting shall take place in a day or two. Decision regarding the reference sent by the Punjab government in regards to Ayyan Ali shall be made in the very meeting
