Demand of ice witnesses increase

islamabad - The demand of ice has witnessed increase in twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi due to holy month of Ramazan. A number of vendors have set up ice selling points owing to the rise in the demand. A vendor of ice at Sitara Market said it is good time for ice business, as people required it especially during iftar time. He said that his daily profit has soared from Rs 800 to Rs 1,500,” adding that people use ice in various ways, adding that people demand ice till late night.

A local medical expert, Dr Sannat Ullah said that drinking ice cold water affects the health a lot, adding that it hampers the digestive system because it causes our blood vessels to shrink. “When you drink something at very low temperature, the body has to spend energy to regulate its temperature,” he added. He said that cold water also increases the chances of getting a sore throat and lowers your heart rate.
