Load shedding exceeds 14 hours despite govt assurance

ISLAMABAD: In the wake of sweltering heat wave across the country, load shedding has increased from 10 hours to 14 hours despite promises and pledges made by the government.

Earlier, the government had promised to bring a prominent reduction in power outrage but was of no use. Announced and unannounced load shedding had increased as energy shortfall had reached to 6000 megawatts.

Urban residents experienced 8 to 10 hours of load shedding while rural natives faced 14 to 16 hours of power outage. Ministry of Water and Power stated that 14, 500 megawatts had been produced in the national grid while the country demands 21000 megawatts in totality.
