BAHAWALNAGAR-An MNA`s uncle, along with other accomplices, allegedly manhandled an irrigation officer as he stopped the accused from stealing water in Dunga Bunga Police precincts.

On the complaint of SDO Haroonabad, a case has been registered against them. Maqsood Langaika who is reportedly the uncle of MNA Alamdad Laleka, along with other accomplices were engaged in stealing water through pipes at Burji 8,9 & 10 in the area of Haroonabad Subdivision. Meanwhile, Haroonabad Subdivision SDO Rana Kamran raided and recovered the pipes from the custody of the accused.

As a result, the accused got infuriated and attacked the raiding team. They manhandled the SDO and snatched the pipes. They also kept them in illegal confinement. However, on the intervention of area people the accused released the irrigation department team. Later, the SDO lodged a complaint with Dunga Bunga police station against the accused. It registered the case Under Sections 353,342,148,149,506B against 25 accused including Maqsood Langaika, Ahmad Langaika, Arslan, Allah Ditta etc.

When contacted, SDO Rana Kamran said that accused were stealing water while the area people informed him about their activity.

When he raided and got the possession of water lifting pipes from their custody, accused Maqsood Langaika asked him that he is the uncle of MNA Alamdad Laleka and they had got 95,000 votes in elections. “How dare you ask me to stop water theft,” the SDO quoted the accused as saying. He said that accused also threatened him of dire consequences.
