rawalpindi - Additional Commissioner (Coordination) Tariq Mehmood Tariq yesterday summoned the in-charge and a computer operator of Computerised Land Record Centre, Rawat, over issuing erroneous fard (land possession certificate) to a citizen.

Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Azmat Mehmood and Additional Commissioner Tariq Mehmood also paid a surprise visit to CLRC Rawat and interacted with teh people there.

The public told the district top guns that computerised land record is full of mistakes whereas the officials are showing negligence and carelessness in issuance of fard, transfer/property deeds, mutations and record fard.

According to details, a citizen Fazal Hussain, a resident of Dhamial, appeared before Additional Commissioner Tariq and lodged a complaint that he applied for fard of 3 and half marlas of land out of his 10 marla land that he had purchased in 2001 in Mauza Dhama. But the in-charge and other staffers have been humiliating him since long and are not issuing him the required land document, he added. He also said that earlier the officials issued him a record fard that was full of mistakes.

Taking action, Tariq called Naib Tesildar Naseer Aulakh for his legal assistance. After checking the registry and other land record, Naseer apprised Tariq that the computer operator Adnan Baig had issued a computerized fard to Fazal Hussain while erasing 6 kanal and 3 marlas land from Khewat Number 303. He added that this fard would affect the ownership of other landlords.

He was of view that the officials of computer centre are now humiliating the complainant in a bid to save their skin from legal action.  Naib Tehsildar recommended strict action against the in-charge and computer operator of CLRC Rawat.

With consultation of Commissioner Azmat Mehmood, the additional commissioner summoned In-charge Hussain and computer operator Adnan Baig today (Wednesday) with all relevant record of Khewat number 303.

Meanwhile, the people said that new computerised record was full of mistakes and wrong entries. A land owner said that he owned four pieces of land in three separate areas but he could find ownership of only one in computerised record. Many other landowners and applicants drew attention of the commissioner towards negligence and slackness of officials of CLRC Rawat. The district high-ups assured the people that the computerised data of land would be corrected soon.

Talking to The Nation, Additional Commissioner Tariq Mehmood said that the government is trying its level best to facilitate the masses in all the fields including land record issue.

Punjab government has put in place a modern land record management information system with the admirable objective of eliminating corruption, forgery and land grabbing. Service centres have been functional in 143 tehils of the province promising to provide people a property deed in 30 minutes and mutation in 45 minutes.
