PESHAWAR - Amid walk out from the budget session, the opposition members in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly rejected the provincial budget terming it anti-poor and jugglery of words.

The opposition members entered the hall during the speech of the Finance Minister on budget, and started chanting slogans of ‘shame, shame’ and ‘Budget Namanzoor’ but they remained present till end of the budget speech.

While talking to media jointly after the budget presentation, parliamentary leader of PML-N Sardar Aurangzeb Naluta, Awami National Party parliamentary leader Sardar Hussain Babak and Nighat Orakzai of Pakistan Peoples’ Party said that it was an anti-people budget which has no relief for the poor segments of society and described it a failed and the worst-ever budget presented by the PTI-led government in the history of the province.

The budget of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the financial year 2016-17 restricted only to four districts represented by the Chief Minister (Nowshera), Speaker KP Assembly (Swabi), Education Minister (Mardan) and Finance Minister (Dir Lower) where majority of the funds have been allocated, they said. 

Criticizing the PTI-led provincial government, they said the government taking the credit of the projects initiated by the federal government and the present budget was reflection of the same, they maintained.

The budget of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa comprises of heavy taxations mainly upon the poor segments of society and therefore the people reject it, they said.
