Baloch ministers nephew killed in Kalat

QUETTA - Unidentified assailants on Monday shot dead nephew of a provincial minister of Balochistan in Kalat, some 160 kilometres away from the provincial capital. According to sources, armed motorcyclists sprayed a volley of bullets on vehicle of Agha Mehmood Khan Ahmedzai, nephew of provincial minister Agha Irfan Karim at Shahi Darbar Road in Kalat, injuring him critically. He was shifted to hospital where he died. After the attack, his driver lost control of the vehicle and hit two pedestrians, injuring them critically who were shifted to hospital. But, one of them died in hospital Police suspects that it could be an incident of target killing; however, they handed over the body to Ahmedzais heirs after legal formalities. No group accepted responsibility so far. Soon after the incident, shopkeepers closed down their shops to protest the killing. Ahmedzai was a close relative of Khan of Kalat Suleman Dawood, who had taken political asylum in Britain. Baloch nationalist parties, including Balochistan National Party (BNP-Mengal) and Baloch National Voice have strongly condemned Ahmedzais killing and blamed government for it.
