LAHORE The Lahore High Court Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhary on Monday called for a reply from Punjab government to petition seeking action against doctors observing strike in the province to demand raise in the salaries. A journalist Manzoor Qadir filed the petition submitting that the doctors were violating their code of professional conduct by observing strike, whereof more than 40,000 patients in the public hospitals were suffering. He said doctors by observing strike were causing serious problems to citizens who were being denied medical treatment, a fundamental right enshrined by the constitution of Pakistan. Petitioner prayed that the government be directed to take action against the doctors and order the government to make them end their strike forthwith. The CJ sought reply from the government within two weeks.
