NAB initiates inquiry against Cheema’s wife

LAHORE: Inquiry against Ahad Cheema’s wife has been initiated by the NAB authorities and details were asked about her assets.

The investigation has been started against her on the basis that there might be some assets of bureaucrat Cheema in the name of her wife. She could also be summoned during the investigation process.

It is significant to note that Ahad Cheema is considered a close ally of CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif. He is Grade-19 PAS (Pakistan Administrative Services) officer, arrested for the irregularities in the Punjab Land Development Company (PLDC) for giving a contract for Aashiana-e-Iqbal project.

Ahad Cheema have remained on important position even being a junior officer. Among the top position he remained as secretary higher education department (2009-10), DCO Lahore (2011-12), DG Lahore Development Authority (2012-16, two terms) and now the incumbent CEO QATPL.

The bureaucracy have also taken notice of the issue and demanded Chief Justice Pakistan to take action against NAB in Cheema’s arrest, in a meeting headed by chief Secretary.

On Ahad Cheema’s arrest, a NAB official said that he was arrested when failed to appear before the investigation team (CIT). Cheema was warned about the consequences earlier when he didn’t cooperate with NAB authorities and Investigation team.

Shahbaz Sharif also appeared before the NAB in housing project case and was also accused by NAB officials for showing non cooperating behavior.
